You gotta wonder, was Vampire Weekend extolling a passion for geography when they wrote breakthrough single "Oxford Comma"? After all, the New York City quartet's second album Contra (which came out January 12, through the always-wonderful XL Recordings) is awash with sounds inspired by far-flung places including Rio, Jamaica and Mali.
Observe the wondrous cultural collision on the explosive "Cousins":
Vampire Weekend hit the road for an extensive US tour in the middle of March. No doubt it will be a lesson in awesomeness... and very, very fast guitar playing. Try and keep up.
