After spending the last year collaborating with the likes of T.I., Ciara, and Rihanna, Justin reveals what he likes about producing vs. recording his own album.
On Producing and Writing for Other Artists:
“Working on other people’s music, I find they are absolutely different. But obviously I assume we’ll compliment one another. When I write music for myself, I don’t put too much thought into any of it. But it’s a phenomenon—it’s so funny when people think you’re writing about you and not that you’re being creative. They think it’s who you are, to the extent of what you eat and how you sleep. When I write for other people, it opens the door for my own music to be more creative in the future. You don’t have to carry it on your back—different sounds, ideas, lyrics, anything really. It’s not so much like, this is who you are. People start to realize more that you go in, come up with an idea, and put it down. It’s not your autobiography.â€
