Chicago Blackhawks Win Stanley Cup

As he streaked down the ice toward his goalie, Chicago's Patrick Kane was alone in his certainty that the Stanley Cup belonged to his team. There was no red light, no siren, no referee signaling goal... The Philadelphia crowd, not to mention the Philadelphia players, stood in stunned silence as they tried to figure out where the heck the puck had gone. Kane knew. If you'd asked him, he could have told you that the puck was nestled deep in the padding in the back corner of the goal, where he had deposited it just moments ago, making his Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup champions for the first time in 49 years.
For our money, it's the coolest trophy in sports: Lord Stanley's Cup is awarded annually to the champion of the National Hockey League. This year, the Chicago Blackhawks stand at the mountaintop for the first time since 1961.
Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews hoists the Stanley Cup; he was named the Most Valuable Player of the playoffs.
It was a hard-fought series against the underdog Philadelphia Flyers, who were on a Cinderella run of their own. But ultimately, the Blackhawks showed too much speed and skill, dispatching the Flyers in six games.
The Philadelphia crowd wasn't angry.. Just disappointed.
