Exclusive Interview: Justin's Sense About Scents

Memories, imagination, old sentiments, and associations are more readily reaches through the sense of smell than through any other channel

~Oliver Wendell Holmes

Since Justin is spokesmen for Givenchy's perfume Play and even helped pick out the key notes of the perfume, we got the DL from him on the process and his own favorite scents. High on the list? Grandma's peach cobbler (and perhaps all those yummy childhood memories it brings?)

What was your first cologne?

Polo by Ralph Lauren.

What the process like when you selected the key notes for Givenchy’s fragrance Play?

It was interesting; it’s kind of like wine tasting in a way. You pick out certain scents that are attractive to you. Like the woody scent. The amorous wood scent and the grapefruit scent were really attractive to me. But I didn’t smell it and go, (in deep baritone) “Ah, well, that is amorous wood.” (laughing). I just said –“This smells kind of woody. And it also smells citrusy. And I like it.”

Favorite flower:

Honeysuckle.

Strongest smell of home?

My grandmother’s peach cobbler.

Or Thanksgiving.
