Tennman Records artist Matt Morris has released a new music video for the track, "Live Forever." Directed by motion graphics animator/director Matt Stawski, who has worked with bands like Paramore and Fall Out Boy in the past, the video juxtaposes stark American Beaty-esque suburban wasteland with lush, dreamy animation. A must-see:
Better yet? We got the inside scoop from the Tennman Records artist on the video. Details below:
Q & A w. Matt Morris about New Video, Live Forever:
Q: What Was the original inspiration for the song "Live Forever":
A: The inspiration for "Live Forever" was simple: write a song that is memorable, meaningful and honest. And I think some of my own personal experience entered into the process, too. My life has undergone some amazing changes in the past few years, and change can sometimes feel violent or jarring -- like the world is coming apart ("when everything breaking open, everything breaks down"). But love? Love endures. Love makes it through those changes. That's the message of this song.
Q: Where the concept for the video came from?
A: The original concept for the video came from my husband, Sean, who co-wrote "Live Forever" with me. When the director, Matt Stawski, became involved, that concept changed and was expanded upon. Matt introduced the idea of the neighborhood and the house interiors, and the animation, created by Serge Gay Jr., tied those thing together with Sean's vision of the changing landscapes.
Q: Where was this filmed? how long did it take?
A: The shoot took place in Los Angeles, and we shot the entire video in one day.
Q: The lush animation looks a bit like the film Avatar? Coincidence?
A: Yes - the Live Forever video animation has been compared to "Avatar", as well as "Pushing Daisies"! Those weren't direct inspirations, but I like being in the company of such creative and innovative work!
Q: One funny fact about the video?
A: Hmm... I'm wearing the same pants that I wore on the Hope For Haiti Now Telethon, The David Letterman Show, Lopez Tonight, and almost every show I've played in the last year. Needless to say, I like how they fit!
