Since opening a store in LA this summer, the Norwegian fashion line, Moods of Norway, has been spreading their distinct bright colors and crazy tartan patterns throughout the West Coast. World-ready Euro-styling with just a touch of cheese (can you say Jarlsberg?), everything about the brand - from slick suits to outwear - is vibrant and fun, designed for people who like to excite the eyes but don't take themselves too seriously. One of their suits caught our eye in a soiree in LA, worn by a well-tailored rock musician (no longer an oxymoron!), and we've been fans ever since. While some of their suits are pretty extreme (i.e. metallic flowered-one below...) and none are for the tame of heart, we love thier creative spunk. (Check out their funky website here.)

The men behind the brand, Simen Staalnacke, Peder Børresen and Stefan Dahlkvist, are like the mad hatters of Scandinavianfashion design. Seasoned travelers and funny guys all around, their mission is to make happy clothes for happy people all around the world.
Check out a couple of threads from their AW09 Collection:

Meanwhile, the dudes don't slack on their fashion shows either: their Autumn/Winter 09 fashion show complete with dancing stewardesses, moonwalking astronauts, tribal drummers and sassy senior citizens shaking it to some good 'ol techno (unts unts unts). Check it:
Their clothing is available online and in tasteful boutiques in Norway, Sweden, Beleux, Switzerland, Spain, Japan and USA.
For us, the bottom line is that during this recession it's refreshing to see snazzy menswear with clean tailoring but exuberant spirit.
A bit of viking domination, perhaps?
