There's always a controversy between thinking of a costume that is culturally apropos and/or humorous - and just crossing the line during halloween. Below are some ideas we've heard tossed around by friends and acquaintances for the big day tomorrow. It's the weird costume contest of 2009. On Monday, we are going to post the best costumes we find on Halloween night. Until then, we want to know which of the "suggestions" below do you think hits the mark - and which are absolute, obvious, pathetic costume fails?
Possible Halloween Costumes 2009?
1) Swine Flu
Props: Pig nose, hospital gown, thermometer and a box of tissue

2) Lady Gaga
Props: Red lace bodysuit with matching underwear, improv mask, and a whole lot of hairspray
*PS According to some American Apparel salespeople we talked to yesterday, the store is selling spandex like hotcakes in the name of Gaga. So be prepared to see everyone and their mom dressed like her. It's clear everyone is gaga over gaga.

3) The New and 'Improved' Amy Winehouse
Props: Your Beehive from last year (if you were the 75% of females who attempted to dress like her last year), strapless dress, major eyeliner, ballet slippers, and (cough) big bright bouyant balloons.

4) Post-Recession CEO
Props: Tattered suit, big cardboard sign that reads "Bentley for Sale", and a empty briefcase

5) Bernard Madoff Vampire
Props: Fangs, ponzi mask, fake blood and Dracula cape. In a prison suit.

6) Octomom
Props: 8 toy babies, expanded sling, fish lips. See the pict below. Nuf said.

7) Balloon Boy
Props: Cluster of Balloons, kiddie clothing.

DISCLAIMER: None of the costumes implicated above reflects our true feelings about the people represented or society as a whole (obviously.) It's just a cultural caricature of 2009....(like SNL Skits) and it's meant to be funny not mean.....
REMINDER: Don't drink and drive. Have fun! Take Taxis. Don't let the vampires bite! And send in your best shots of Halloween!!!

“Your voice sounds so sexy in this absolutely fresh song!”

“I really like you doing pure pop music like this song, but the problem with it is that it encourages the white culture and wants it to be exclusive to you and Britney, etc. etc. You stayed away from that sin in your second solo album and it is easier for someone like me to look at you as an artist and a friend now. I am just saying that I want pop culture to be inclusive and you have done a lot towards that end.”

“That's cool. I was watching your three movies, "Alpha Dog," "Southerland Tales," "Black Snake Moan" nonstop last night and tonight and I can't learn enough from your sensitivity to the lower class. I have a lot to learn from you as someone that uses his gifts for the betterment of the society. I am so inspired by the roles that you pick and even wish to follow in your tracks someday on the big screen.”
