There are songs out there that are slow-burners: songs that grow on you and become better over time and more meaningful with age... And there are also songs that are so darned instantaneously satisfying that your fingers start clicking and your toes start tapping and your hips start shaking before you've even gotten into the first chorus.
Weezer's new single, "If You're Wondering If I Want You To (I Want You To)", is very much the latter (despite the decidedly lengthy title), and is faithful to the LA quartet's grand tradition of making incredibly creative videos (Who can forget the wizardry of "Buddy Holly", the Spike Jonze-directed "Island In Sun" and zeitgeist-capturing "Pork And Beans", among others?)
Please note: No members of Weezer were harmed during the making of this video:
Oh and in case you missed it, Leighton Meester appeared onstage during their halloween concert NY to sing this single with Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo:
Anyway, this well-loved, joyous lil ditty is the first single to be taken from Weezer's just-released, and appropriately-titled, seventh album Raditude, (out through DGC/Interscope) which also features a collaboration with - no, really - Lil Wayne. And if that unexpected partnership doesn't make you want to pick up the record, we don't know what will.
The band will be doing some select North American dates next month, so if you're a resident of Chicago, Milwaukee, Toronto, Boston, DC or Philly, you best go shopping for dancing shoes now. After alll, who knows who will jump on stage with them in a town near you!

“They fixed the lyrics ;-) I imagine that you would feel that way if you met the one, as opposed to all these whores that are taking advantage of belonging to the entertainment class. There is nothing like the feeling of defeating the class system!”
