Joe Girardi Yankee Manager Makes A Fashion Statement

Joe Girardi, the manager of World Series Champion New York Yankees, has been sporting some interesting gear this postseason: Braces!

Seems Joe made a promise to his five-year-old daughter, who was afraid of having to get braces, that if she ever had to get them, he'd get them too. Several years later, it came to pass that his daughter's teeth needed straightening, so dad slapped em on for solidarity. And right before the playoffs, too... But he's a man of his word, it seems, and a shoe-in for Father of the Year.

And that's not all. After clinching the World Series the other night, Girardi was driving home from the stadium at around 2AM when he spotted a car that had crashed into a wall. He was "really concerned" because of the damage to the car, he told WFAN, so he stopped, ran across the highway, helped the woman out of the car, and flagged down help while his wife called 911. Officer Kathleen Cristiano arrived at the scene, and must have felt like she was on some sort of hidden camera show when she saw Girardi there.

"The guy wins the World Series, what does he do? He stops to help," said Cristiano, according to The Journal News. "It was totally surreal... The driver didn't know it was him until after I told her," Cristiano told The Journal News.

"She had no idea who I was," Girardi said. "I think the important thing is, you know, obviously there's a lot of joy in what we do, but we can't forget to be human beings where we help others out. I think that's the most important thing we can do in life."

The driver walked away with minor cuts, and a damn good story.
