When The Strokes announced they were going on hiatus back in 2006, across the globe, legions of gorgeous shaggy-haired hipsters in leather jackets and ironic T-shirts gazed at their Converse-clad feet, pouted even harder than usual and shed a tiny tear.
The musical void left by New York's favourite rock 'n' rollers has been palpable ever since, but - phew! - cool kids of the world are once again breathing a sigh of relief because Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas has just released his debut solo album, Phrazes For The Young (through RCA).
