Oh, pandas. Such mysterious, lumbering, gentle souls; all cute and bamboo-loving and endangered. Who doesn't love pandas?
Well, after making the video for their new single "Drunk Girls", we'd put money on the fact that LCD Soundsystem will never look at pandas the same way ever again. It's all Spike Jonze's fault. The visionary film-maker joined the New York electro masters and came up with this: the most anarchic music video in recent memory. Hold onto your pants, people:
Well, at least they got champagne at the end of it! We've never seen a band look so fearful and uncomfortable in their own video. Which, of course, is the inherent genius of the thing. It of course helps that the song is such a joyful riot in its own right.
"Drunk Girls" is taken from LCDS's third album This Is Happening (out May 18th, through DFA/ Virgin) and the band have just hit the road for a mammoth tour that will take them across Europe and the US over the next three months. Catch them if you can (and just hope that the "Panduhs" don't show up with eggs and fire extinguishers...)
