Art Basel Miami is a week of lascivious partying, a celebration of art and all that bubbles from such creative catharsis. Which means, without a doubt, music is an integral part of the week. Each year, however, Miami Art Basel is becoming a better and better place to scope new and established music talent. For proof, photog Kevin Tachman of Backstage@ provides a backstage (and front-stage) perspective of the bright, bold music at Basel this year.

Santigold @ Deitch Party
It all kicked off Wednesday night. It's a ritual at this point that Jeffrey Deitch hosts a highly selective, private fiesta in the sandy lounge area behind the Raleigh Hotel each year with a surprise music act. This year, guests enjoyed a superb performance by a golden-hued Santigold.

(PS In music news, Santigold just released with Snotty a remix of Norah Jones' Chasing Pirates. Check it out on Stereogum.)

Then on Friday, December 4th, Tachman hit up the Interview Mag & Fred Perry Ping-Pong Party.
It featured stellar sunsets, bountiful free drinks, ping-ponging, and pillow-diving....

When Art collective O.H.W.O.W. decided to dedicate their exhibit to the legendary Lower East Side bar, Max Fish, they knew it wouldn't be complete without music (well, music and graffiti if you've ever been to Max Fish.)
Enter the rock band Endless Boogie:

In sum, Miami Art Basel was hot this year with new talent. And if you thought it lacked established acts - may we remind you that Beyonce and Jay-Z, while they did not perform on-stage, were in the house for the Basel Vernissage, scoping out the art.
Now how's that for a tropical musical medley?
