Music Monday: Beating The Winter Blues With The Drums

Okay, enough already. We've officially burned all the dust off our heaters, worn out our winter coats, lost three pairs of gloves and learned to live with hat hair, but this cold weather business has got to stop. It snowed in Florida the other day, for crying out loud. Florida! It's monsooned in Cali for the past week. And don't even get us started on the state of the temperature further up the East Coast.

So, since we can't all live in sunny climes (we're looking at you, Brazil!), we're exceedingly thankful New York quartet The Drums have gone to a whole heap of trouble to try and warm us up with the sunniest song we've heard in months, "Let's Go Surfing."

It's light, jolly, whimsical surf-pop - the perfect Vitamin D injection for our winter doldrums.

Damn - The whistling! The handclaps! The harmonizing! The joyful '60s twanging of that guitar! That bit in the middle of the video where vocalist Jonathan rips his sweater off and abandons it on the sand! We feel warmer already.

The foursome are so thoughtful, they're heading to currently-snow-covered Britain next month to spread some sunshine in person. How nice is that? Since we'll have to wait a while for them to come back, you might want to invest in their seven-track Summertime! EP (available on import, or to download now). It's so good, it might just keep us going til Spring.
