Prank Fail O' Day: Coach Hits Blindfolded Halfcourt Shot

This prank was actually run on a grand scale by the funny-or-die crew a while back. Then a few high school kids at Olathe High School in Kansas thought they'd have a little fun with their basketball coach. Instead, the teacher taught them a little statistics lesson.

The setup: Coach Joel Branstrom was told he'd win tickets to the Final Four if he could hit a blindfolded shot from halfcourt. Assuming he would miss, the students told everyone in the crowd to cheer wildly anyway, making Branstrom think that he had made it. You can see where this is going...

Yes, he made the shot. Branstrom told reporters that he figured something was up -- he initially thought he'd get hit with a pie -- but went with it anyway. And, to their credit, the students ponied up and got him a gift certificate to a Mexican restaurant for being a good sport about it all.

Turns out the ol' ball coach was a walk-on for the Kansas Jayhawks in 1997, who were ranked #1 and made it to the Elite Eight. If this story teaches us anything, it's to never lay odds against a Kansas Jayhawk when it involves a half-court shot.
