A few months ago, we happened to overhear a guy in a bar remark that it's weird that cops and hip-hoppers don't get along better, since they're the two most successful groups of people on the planet when it comes to getting entire rooms of strangers to put their hands in the air simultaneously and on demand.
We thought that was pretty funny...
Well, the latest hip-hop character joining the battle for supreme control of other people's limbs is Chicago's Kid Sister - a woman unafraid to combine pumpin' dance beats, R&B vocals, fierce rapping and more style than a Sunday edition of The New York Times, with her video for "Right Hand Hi". (It just adds to her cred that she's sister of J2K, one half of Flosstradamus, the DJ duo that is known to raise the roof in each club, and girlfriend of A-trak's - mix prodigy and founder of Fool's Gold Records, and amigo of Kanye West who starred in her last "Pro Nails" video.)
"Right Hand Hi" is taken from Kid's debut album, Ultraviolet (out now on the always dependable Downtown Records).
PS As for our random-fact-of-day, Kid Sister was also nominated for the "Most Animal-Friendly Hip-Hop Artist" in PETA's Libby Awards. What's not to love?
