Over here at JustinTimberlake.com, we love a good character. And one of the most unique ladies on our radar right now is sweet soul songstress, Janelle Monae.
Fabulous, like a one-woman Outkast, this tiny lady has heaps of charisma, booty-shaking tunes aplenty, and moves that would make James Brown and Michael Jackson (R.I.P. both) jealous. (Yes, she can moonwalk like it ain't no thing.) Not to mention, she has rad style (check out the hair below).
See her literally dance herself skyward, backed by an organ-fueled funk fest, watch "Many Moons" (from last year's Metropolis: The Chase Suite, out through Bad Boy Records) in the video below:
And if supporting No Doubt on their arena tour this summer (and performing a nightly cover of Adam Ants' 1981 hit "Stand And Deliver" alongside Gwen Stefani and Paramore's Hayley Williams) wasn't proof enough of her crossover appeal, she also recently participated in the shamelessly sunny "Open Happiness" for Coca Cola, alongside Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump, Panic! At The Disco's Brendon Urie, Cee-Lo Green and Gym Class Heroes' (and famed Katy Perry boyfriend) Travis McCoy.
Witness the near-sickly, rainbow-fuelled, "We Are The World"-esque perkiness here:
While we don't ordinarily condone small children following zebras down alleyways, if it puts a smile on your face, that's okay, right?
And, as you've probably grasped by now, it's hard not to grin ridiculously with Janelle in the vicinity.
Sweet.
