Hell yeah. University of Memphis' sophomore guard Elliot Williams, the former Duke guard, was named the Conference USA Newcomer of the Year on Wednesday. The award is given annually to the Conference's top transfer.
Williams made headlines this past offseason when he announced that he had decided to leave perennial powerhouse Duke to move closer to his Memphis home in order to be with his mother, who is suffering from a serious (but undisclosed) illiness. He finished the 2010 season second in the Conference in scoring, with 18.5 points per game, and was named first team All-Conference.
By the way, Memphis' NCAA Tournament prospects are looking good, and as everyone knows, once you're in the dance, anything can happen. Selection Sunday is mere days away, and we'll be following Williams and his fellow Tigers very closely.

“ I went to Duke and I know how important his presence is to our basketball culture. But, I am really glad that Elliot Williams found a new home. It is always so cool to see you collaborating with T.I. Starting from "My Love" to "All Night Long," T.I. adds a new class to your music. ”
