Sports: NFL Playoffs Preview

The NFL Playoff picture is set. Twelve teams try to book their ticket to Miami, FL for a spot in the 44th installment of our country's greatest sports spectacle: The Super Bowl. The game attracted over 95 million viewers last year in the US alone. In 2004, more people watched the Super Bowl than voted. (Not so in 2008, thankfully.) But I digress.
PREDICTIONS:
On the NFC side, the top two seeds are the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings. Both feature high-flying offenses, but have faltered of late. The game's elder statesman Brett Favre took the helm in Minnesota late this past offseason, inheriting the keys to a pretty stacked team. I am hoping that Aaron Rodgers can manage to get his Packers a rematch with Favre and his Vikings (still sounds weird). Ooh, would that game get some ratings. All that said, something tells me not to count out Drew Brees, the Saints, and the inspired fans of Who Dat Nation who worship at their altar. The Eagles of Philadelphia are dangerous, the Dallas Cowboys are hot as a pistol, and Favre has something to prove, but I'm going out on a limb and going with the #1 seed Saints.

On the AFC side, the Ravens and Jets are the wild cards at 9-7. The Jets' hornet's nest defense and ground game are intimidating, but their QB and head coach are both rookies and still green. With Tom Brady and the Patriots banged up, the San Diego Chargers and Indianapolis Colts are the class of the AFC this year, and it seems a foregone conclusion that the Indianapolis Colts, with their MVP All-Pro All-everything quarterback Peyton Manning, will be the representatives out of this Conference. Yes JT.com readers: quaint and lovable Peyton Manning the football star with the shaky-at-best Mandarin is actually a football quarterbacking machine. He's the best player in the sport, and we think he will lead his team to the promiseland.

So, let's recap: We're picking the top seeds from both the NFC and AFC to make it to the championship game. Only the boldest of predictions here, folks! Drew Brees. Peyton Manning. The only thing that could put a damper on that matchup is rain. But it doesn't rain much in Florida, right?
So let's kick off. What are we waiting for? Mr. Williams, the honors? (If big American bombast and awesomeness offends you, you may want to avert your eyes.)
