What happens when you combine a high speed strobe light and a pellet rifle?

Such is the photography of Alan Sailer, whose bright, vibrant shots are stupefying and cataclysmic.

He uses a high velocity air rifle (about 800 fps measured) and hollow ammo.

He uses a flash of light around a microsecond (a millionth of a second) which allows him to freeze things in motion.
