Downtown Los Angeles has its official art walk, but don't you think most of the times it's when you actually venture out beyond regular hours that you have the most fun? Last night, for instance, the entire arts complex at 6th and Alameda opened its doors to over 1000 people for a full-blown undercover vernissage party featuring a live fashion shoot to preview The Bohemian Society's Fall 2010 collection, a skate ramp, tons of amazing urban art and (of course) a taco truck.

As the fashion crew was busy shooting pictures, we started exploring the area looking for interesting pieces of art. Coolest thing about the old factory buildings of the Arts District is that all of the lofts connect through a common backyard area. In a party context, everyone even keeps their front doors open, and to tell you the truth, we wouldn't be surprised to come back here in the middle of the day and to find this same community vibe here.

ABOVE: In one of the lofts filled with arts & boards, this cool Spike Jonze piece and an evil take on Elvis torso caught our attention.

LEFT: Robert Gross-herndon, graphic designer (t-shirt: Bohemian Society, shirt: Conart, jeans: Marc Ecko, shoes: DVS)
RIGHT: Victor Wilde, fashion designer and artist (all dressed in his line - Bohemian Society, shades: vintage lenticular Voyager glasses from the 1980's - the model is "shady character New York City")

The more we walked around, the more we realized that this industrial complex was literally taken over by free-spirited, uber artistic peeps (some locals, many New York expats) who look out for each other and for whom sharing creative projects and having fun doing so is a much more important thing than keeping hallways clean. Duh.

“ A game of human chess picture is eerie, yet so captivating. By the way, never seen The Bohemian Society's Victor Wilde before: The Stylisto-o :) ”
“ I like that they are artsy. Well, I am between jobs and am looking to go into politics. Meanwhile, I am listening to your music nonstop. I love your perfect voice. Maybe you can sing my poem for me: Life has scattered flower petals some are picked up by people who care./ But, those that pick up have their own pile of problems./ Be happy if you are in love and are taken care of, even if some parts of you are left untouched./ That is life. Friend, please accept it. I have so many s c a r s that I learned to live with! ”
