On one of the most chic stretches of Sunset Boulevard (that's not an oxymoron these days...), a new store concept called Echo Park Independent Co-Op (aka E.P.I.C.) opened with a sweet fiesta, gathering some pretty stylish Tinseltown birds last weekend. The concept? Boutique owners Rhianon Jones and Tristan Scott aim to showcase the best of what Los Angeles has to offer in terms of indie fashion design.
To see the 43 independent designers (and counting), eccentric one-of-a-kind items and rad artwork, a flood of stylistas/stylistos packed the house. (Can "Stylisto" pass as a word for male fashion icon in LA? We think so...) Check it:

LEFT: Alison Moodie, a fashion PR agent, wearing a top from the Witches collection by Gabby Applegate, and pants by Funktional.
RIGHT: Gabby Applegate, a 19-y-o fashion designer, sports a Sword leather jacket, leggings and tank by LnA and Burberry shoes.

ABOVE: Kit Scarbo, alumni Project Runway contestant, designer. (Pants/jacket: Kit Scarbo collection. scarf: Jeremy Scott. shirt: Forever 21, worn backwards (looks cool, doesn't it?))

ABOVE: This girl's makeup was so over the top we had to take a pic! Black lips evidently aren't just "in" as a band name.....

These two classy birds reminded us that often, less is more.
LEFT: Alicia Ottinger wearing vintage and Michelle Durand.
RIGHT: Adam Villacin, all in vintage.

ABOVE: Michael Flores, photographer, was making head turns with this colorful jacket by Odilon.
BELOW: The gorgeous origami mobile was designed by Michelle Durand of Himiku, who also sells her clothes in the boutique.
