It's Tuesday: You are feeling tranquil and a little bit loose.
You're looking for a song that reminds you of 1950s soul on Sundays appropriate for cooking waffles with strawberries with the fam (or friends you consider family.) Even if that never really happened.
The perfect song? Mayer Hawthorne - Just Ain't Gonna Work Out
On The Track: Super sweet- romantic yet not overly saccharine."Just Ain't Gonna Work Out" was released on a red, heart-shaped 7-inch single by Stones Throw in Valentine's Day theme.
On Hawthorne: A Michigan native, he remembers driving with his father and tuning the car radio to local soul, Motown, and jazz. “Most of the best music ever made came out of Detroit,” says the singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist.
It's worth mentioning he was never formally trained, and never sang in a band prior to the County (formerly the County Commissioners) - and it doesn't seem to matter. He was signed to Stone's Throwe label after only singing two songs for the label head. His debut album is expected out this year.

“I haven't heard someone bring those old harmonies back in a while, except some Lauryn Hill. I dig that sound!”
“iTunes was giving away this Mayer Hawthorne song for free almost a month ago as the 'Single of the Week.' Great reaffirmation that this was a great find...and worth the good earned money for the whole album.”
