Thank you Friendly Fires. Thank you for this exuberant, marching-band-drum-favoring, sunshine-fuelled, stomp-in-the-sand, howling extravaganza of a song. Thank you.
Somewhere, right now, right this second, an over-excited advertising executive has just watched this video and is scrambling around his office, squeezing some sort of squishy stress toy and trying to figure out how quickly he can use this song in an ad campaign for something. What would the commercial be for? Vacations? Cars? Soda? Make-up? Underwear? Actually, it doesn’t matter one iota because this chorus could sell absolutely freakin’ anything.
Now, since the Brit trio are on tour in Europe til November, may we kindly suggest that you gather up some friends, strap on some makeshift drums (pots and pans will do, honestly… we’re not picky…) and head to the nearest park, singing “Kiss Of Life” (released August 31, through XL Recordings) at the tops of your lungs immediately, before the summer sun has completely gone? You’d be a fool not to. The weird pointy face mask stuff is optional though.
