You, like us, might have wept buckets over 2004 epic movie romance The Notebook. Go on, admit it... there was Kleenex involved...
You might also, like us, have fallen madly in love with Ryan Gosling playing leading man Noah Calhoun; all beardy, flat-capped country-bumpkin wondrousness. Swoon with us, ladies!
Last time we saw Gosling, he was playing a delusional basket case and romancing an inflatable doll named Bianca, in 2007's oddly touching Lars And The Real Girl, and yes, somehow, he was still very lovable - while rocking a fat Magnum P.I. 'stache.
So what's he been working on for the last two years? Sure he has two movies coming out in the new year: Blue Valentine (also starring Michelle Williams) and All Good Things (alongside Kirsten Dunst).....but the thing we're most excited about right now is his music project, Dead Man's Bones.
That's right - Ryan Gosling has got a music project.
Eerie yet somehow soothing; dark but awash with wonder; creepy but strangely uplifting; Ryan with his collaborater, fellow actor Zach Shields - along with (curiously enough) The Silverlake Conservatory Of Music Children's Choir - have, in their self-titled debut full-length, created something truly unique and distinguished.
Get a load of their fascinating video for "Dead Hearts":
The contraption in the video is a moving sculpture created by Arthur Ganson, titled "Machine With Wishbone", and we can't imagine a more beautiful use for it than in this ghostly clip, directed by the Canadian duo themselves.
Dead Man's Bones is out now, through Anti-Records.
