What did you do on Valentine's Day?
If you've got a significant other, you probably had a romantic meal, a candle-lit bath, or a bunch of other stuff we can't really discuss here.
But if you're single, Valentine's day is always awkward and harrowing. It's tempting to knock oneself into a coma eating an unhealthy amount of chocolates Bridget Jones style while the rest of the world gets laid.
Well in San Francisco, they've come up with a pretty wicked solution to relieve tension for singles.
On Feb 14th 2010, thousands of singles descended on Justin Herman Plaza, underneath the city's landmark Ferry Building downtown, as is a Valentine's ritual. And when the clock struck six p.m., they all simply started whacking each other with pillows.

The Great San Francisco Pillow Fight has been growing year upon year since it started back in 2006, thanks to word of mouth and online networking.

And it didn't take long for the feathers to start flying... EVERYWHERE:
The fight lasted for over two hours, and was attended by a wide variety of revellers:
The romantic:

The green:

The young:

The girly:

Happy couples:

Lovely ladies:

(Almost) naked men in helmets:

Funky friends:

Animal lovers:

Those who were prepared for anything:

Those who fear the feathers will never brush out:

And even a giant, human sized pillow:

It might not be the most romantic way to spend Valentine's Day, but it probably is the funnest...
