Like a male-version of Amy Winehouse, his music instantly transports us back to the happy-go-lucky soul of the late 1950s and early 60s, when soda fountains and drive-thru theaters were red-hot, the Memphis music scene was churning out legends, and 7" were all the rage. For any of you who relish those oldies-but-goodies, you'll find a soft spot for Mayer Hawthorne.
