If you happen to be anywhere near Sydney, Australia this month, a spectacle worth checking out is Vivid Sydney, a polymorphic festival that has transformed the city's iconic harbor into a wonderland of light, thanks to large-scale light installations, cutting-edge projections, music performances, and creative summits. Running from May 27th to June 21st, Vivid Sydney 2010 includes music, film and visual arts curated by the iconic musician Lou Reed and artist/musician Laurie Anderson. (PS Lou Reed even performed at the launch party. Can't beat that.) Above and below are pictures from their kick-off "lighting of the sails" of the Opera House - and some of the other art displays in downtown Sydney. Now if only we had enough flier miles.....

PS all this talk of lights and music made us think of this seemingly prophetic Cut Copy song....(Since they are Aussies as well, it felt all the more appropriate.)
