The United States World Cup team played Slovenia to a most bittersweet 2-2 draw. Sweet because the US fell behind 2-0 at the half, but showed their mettle with a furious second half comeback to equalize. Bitter because the US scored what appeared to be a go-ahead goal on a free kick, but was disallowed by referee Koman Coulibaly for no apparent reason.
“It was a good goal,” US coach Bob Bradley said. “The only things that could be called are penalty kicks for us."
Indeed, replays showed that several US players were being held on the play.

Spot the offsides. Where is it? Nowhere. That's where.

On the other hand... Spot the holds! One could make the argument that Michael Bradley (Right) and his defender are basically dating...
But let's not dwell on the past. US Soccer officials aren't. With no legal recourse to protest the outcome of the game, it's kind of pointless. Reports have surfaced that the ref will undergo an official review, possibly being relieved of his officiating duties for the rest of the tournament. FIFA will comment on the incident Monday. So we'll look forward to that...
In the meantime, let's give props to a resilient US soccer team, and the two exquisite goals scored by captain Landon Donovan, and the coach's son Michael Bradley. Keep up the good work boys. Don't let the Man get you down.
