In case you missed it, the U.S. vs. England match ended in a 1-1 draw, thanks mostly to English goalie Robert Green. In the 40th minute, US striker Clint Dempsey basically squibbed a bouncing shot toward the goal. Green couldn't secure the save, much to the chagrin of the British announcer, for one, David Beckham for another...

This draw bodes well for the US' hopes of advancing at least to the next round (knock on wood). On the other hand, England is understandably disappointed with the result, given that they dominated most of the action, to say nothing of the tidy goal by England's Steven Gerrard that gave them the lead four minutes into the match. Ultimately, though, "they all count the same," as Dempsey said after the match.

In light of all this, we'd be remiss if we didn't give a loud shout out to the unanimous Man of the Match: US goalkeeper, Tim Howard, who took English striker Emile Heskey's cleat flush in the chest, brushed it off, and grimaced his way to two wonderful saves to shut down the English team the rest of the way.
